503 - SB1 - Tea Flavours Research

Strawberries & Cream Loose Leaf

Ingredients: Apple, hibiscus, rosehip, strawberry granules (glucose syrup, strawberries, fructose, modified starch: E1414, thickener: E401), sweet blackberry leaves, yoghurt crispies (skimmed milk yoghurt, sugar, maltodextrin, modified starch E1412, acidifier: E330) flavouring CONTAINS MILK.

Although some of the main ingredients for this flavour aren't actually as described this is still the flavour achieved so I will focus the packaging on strawberries and cream.

Green Rose Loose Leaf

Ingredients:Green tea, currants (currants, anti-caking agent: sunflower oil), papaya bits (papaya, sugar), rose petals, mango bits (mango, sugar, acidifier: E330), flavouring, cornflower petals.

I have decided to make the primary ingredients in this tea rose petals, currants and green tea so will therefore focus on these for the illustrations/design for packaging.

Peach Loose Leaf

Ingredients: Apple, white hibiscus, papaya cubes (papaya, sugar), sweet blackberry leaves, peach, chicory root roasted, flavouring, marigold petals, acidifier (E330).
Peach tea is an herbal tea prepared from the dried leaves of the peach tree, along with the dried bark. Peaches are native to China, and bear the scientific name Prunus perspica; different parts of this tree have been used for various culinary and medicinal purposes throughout history. White hibiscus is naturally rich in vitamin C with flavonoid antioxidants, improves healthy digestion. Apple may help prop up the immune system and enhance the body’s resistance from bacteria and viruses.

Although peach isn't the first ingredient listed this is still how the flavour is marketed and the most prominent flavour, as well as apple so these are the ingredients I will focus on for packaging.

Further packaging research

I have decided that I want to go down the illustrative packaging route with the line I am creating, to give it a luxurious and hand crafted feel, therefore I am looking at some packaging examples to see what is out there, the qualities they have to make them sell to the market.

All of the packaging above uses bold colours and the design contains many layers - there is a lot going on however you can clearly establish straight away what the flavour or intention is.
