503 - SB2 - LOOKBOOK Research 1

The look book is to showcase Eva's photographs from London Fashion Week rather than the designer's lines therefore there is no set style or company aesthetic to go from, however I am still going to research LFW as it will give me a good overview of the style and what is popular within this season. Below is research of what Eva has out there herself as well as general look books.

Above are screenshots from Eva's own website which is used to showcase her work and to find potential clients and collaborations. The style and layout itself is very minimal, all in black and white with the only pops of colour coming from the pictures featured. With this in mind I will design the book in simple black and white with all text black, the pops of colour will come from the photographs and some added extras when it comes to production to make the book unique and enticing.

Lookbook Visuals Research

'a set of photographs displaying a fashion designer's new collection, assembled for marketing purposes.'

Most if not all look books are small on text/type use, this means that the main focus is on the photographs, one way in which the reader is drawn in is by the use of negative space and large full bleed photographs. The images are always of high quality and sections are often enlarged to show details.

The collections feature a lot of block monotone colours but also a lot of eccentric and colourful pieces. It would be good if the publication represented this variety. As well as the images seen above all of the images that are going to be used in the publication are of outfits and accessories people have chosen to wear to view the shoes, they are very vibrant, bold and have been chosen to express the individuals and their own styles.
